Hate. It is such a strong word. I believe the feeling of hate suggests a huge force of negativity directed towards someone or something because of a bad experience. If you try looking the word up on certain dictionaries (print or online), you would likely come up with something similar to this:
According the Merriam-Webster dictionary, hate is a feeling that stems out of fear, anger or a sense of injury. In other words, for you to hate something or someone, it is because that thing or person has hurt you, or done something awful to you. Hate is an ugly feeling. It makes a person become irrational; makes them do horrible things.
A lot of people these days use the word “hate” so casually. More often than not, the original meaning of the word is taken for granted just so they can have something to label a person with.
If a person doesn’t like your opinion: “He’s insecure!”
If a person doesn’t like you: “He’s bitter!” or “He’s just jealous!”
If a person doesn’t agree with what you’re saying or opposes your idea “He’s a hater!”
If a person points out how annoying you are: “He’s a hater!”
You would normally see these things in most social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Most of the time, girls (sadly) are the ones doing this whole “hater/insecure/jealous/bitter” labelling. I have seen a lot of guys do that too, but they are not as “harsh” as the women who would go to great lengths to bash their so-called haters.
I wonder if they do this just so they’d feel better about themselves. Women usually try to make good of the whole “hater thing” to emphasize the fact that they are famous or popular because somebody hates on them. For example, women usually say “when someone hates you, it means you’re above them”. Isn’t that just crappy and somewhat delusional?
Rather than saying they’ve got a hater or someone is bitter, jealous or insecure at them, why don’t they understand the fact that some people just find them annoying? That some people just find them acting inappropriately or immaturely? Ah, some people just have big egos. tsk
